Karavaram Grama Panchayat was formed in 1953 by unifying the areas belonging to Alamcode and Karavaram villages.

This Grama Panchayat is situated along the fertile banks of the Vamanapuram River, approximately 45 kilometers north of Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala. Blending natural beauty with cultural heritage, the ancient village of Karavaram carries a rich historical background.

Having undergone numerous social, economic, and cultural transformations over time, this region moved forward under the influence of Kerala's renaissance movements and democratic values.

At one time, the region was under the control of feudal lords and chieftains, governed by a system based on the caste structure. However, the post-independence social awakening transformed Karavaram as well. The Grama Panchayat was established through popular participation and development initiatives.

Today, Karavaram Grama Panchayat stands as a model of advanced rural governance, symbolizing progress and social justice.
